USATF.tv to Broadcast Great North CityGames on Saturday

9/10/2013

INDIANAPOLIS - USATF.tv will broadcast its first ever international competition as it brings the Great North CityGames from Newcastle Gateshead Quayside, England, to track & field fans across the U.S. on Saturday, September 14 from 8:00-9:30 a.m. ET.

The broadcast of the Great North CityGames on USATF.tv will feature full race coverage with full race graphics and commentary from Stuart Storey and Tim Hutchings. The broadcast is live and free to view.

The expansion of USATF.tv as a rightsholder of international competition continues USATF’s aggressive broadcast strategy that in 2013 has included telecast-quality webcasts of domestic championships, behind-the-scenes footage as well as original creative programming that included “USATF 36: Sanya Richards-Ross”.

“We are very happy to be able to present our first international-event broadcast,” said USATF CEO Max Siegel. “It is the next step in the expansion of our broadcast strategy, particularly in the digital space. Building content, storylines and athlete visibility is key to growing our sport as well as our business.”

Fans can watch streaming video of the Great North CityGames on USATF.tv as World Champion and recently crowned Diamond League winner David Oliver goes head-to-head with world record holder and Olympic Champion Aries Merritt in the 110m hurdles on the streets of Newcastle. Other U.S. athletes to watch include 2012 USA Outdoor Champion and World Championships silver medalist Ryan Wilson, 2012 Olympic Champion Christian Taylor, Olympic silver medalist Leo Manzano and 100m hurdlers Kellie Wells and 2012 and 2013 Diamond League champion Dawn Harper.
